Knockhill Racing Circuit is proud to present TEEN DRIVE. A driving experience provided exclusively for 13-16 year olds!
This brand new experience will give kids and young adults their very first taste of driving in a safe, relaxed and controlled environment. With a mixture of fun and practical learning our aim is to provide a memorable visit under the expert eyes of some of Scotland’s top approved driving instructors!
Teen Drive takes place at Knockhill Racing Circuit, Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre; your visit will last approximately 3 hours and will include:

Q. What age can the child be?
A: 13 – 16 years, available for both boys and girls.
Q. Height/weight restrictions
A: Height – 4’10” (min), 6ft 7” (max) Weight - 18 stone
Q. How much driving time will they get?
A: Approximately 40 minutes in the tuition car, mainly driving with an element of shared learning with another pupil driving too.
Q. Are the instructors approved?
A: Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) used, who have also been vetted by Disclosure Scotland.
Q. Do they get a certificate?
A: Yes, it’s a fun certificate of completion
Q. Does the course offer benefit for when the pupils ultimately start to learn to drive on the road?
A: We believe yes, as young adults will be more familiar with how the car works and basic driving techniques. However, this course does not teach someone to pass their test, as there is no road driving involved.
Q. Is it safe?
A: Training cars are fitted with dual controls, using approved instructors and speeds will be less than 10mph, whilst the pupils master basic starting and stopping techniques. Whilst no activity is 100% safe, all the measures taken will minimise the chances of any problems.
Q. What other activities will they be doing?
Ans: The course is aimed to be fun, informative and educational and will cover aspects of vehicle checks, road signs and driving etiquette, wheel changing and general road safety and well as three practical driving periods and a finale of a passenger ride around the circuit
Q. Is there a block of lessons?
A: No, the course is intended as a one-off visit, giving an overall car driving experience and awareness, with a road safety emphasis.
Q. Will they drive solo at any time?
A: No, pupils will always be accompanied by an instructor.
Q. Will they be changing gear?
A: Depending upon progress, it is anticipated that most pupils will fulfil starts and stops and progress to changing gear, to second gear only.
Q. Where does it take place?
A: At Knockhill in a secure fenced off area.
Q. Am I liable for any damage?
A; No, the vehicles are run in a way that the potential for damage is minimal
Q. What Public Liability Insurance do you hold?
A; Yes, value £10M with Brit Insurance.
Q. Can l do Teen Drive 2 without having completed Teen Drive?
A. No we would like you to have taken part in the Teen Drive Experience at Knockhill before progressing onto Teen Drive 2.
